VILLAGES TO GET RS 20 LACS EACH FOR ALL ROUND DEVELOPMENT

Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Partap Singh Phoolka asked sarpanches to work towards ensuring hundred percent potable water for villages. For this, sarpanches should seek all kind of possible help from the government.
Deputy Commissioner said this while holding a meeting with the sarpanches under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana. He said that nine villages of district Barnala have been selected under this scheme, which will be given Rs 20 lacs grants for initiation and completion of various developmental works.
The villages selected in district Barnala include Draka, Dhaner, Naiwala, Patti Sohal, Pandori, Bhaddalvad, Kharak Singh Wala, Kirpal Singh Wala and Amla Singh Wala. These villages have more than 50 percent Scheduled Caste population.
During the meeting, sarpanches of these villages were asked to give priority to drinking water projects. Also sarpanches were asked to list out things that their villages lacked or needed to upgrade. Villages will be provided financial help to meet with needs of drinking water and sanitation, education, health and nutrition, social security, rural roads and housing, electricity and clean fuel, agricultural practices, financial inclusion, digitization and livelihood and skill development.
District Social Justice, empowerment and Minority Officer Kamaljit Raju told sarpanches about various formalities that need to be completed to get access to better facilities. She also encouraged the sarpanches and other representatives of various villages to ensure that villages’ requirements should soon be sent to the office.
