The session aimed to explore the multifaceted influence of social media on individuals and society as a whole.
The discussion was adjudicated by Dr. Arti and Dr. Prabhjot Kaur Ghuman, who provided valuable insights and guidance throughout the discourse. Divided into two groups, participants engaged in a lively exchange of ideas, presenting contrasting perspectives on the role of social media.
The first group articulated the positive aspects of social media, highlighting its role in fostering open-mindedness, facilitating knowledge expansion, aiding job search efforts, promoting digital marketing, enhancing access to information, and fostering social connectivity and communication. Conversely, the second group articulated concerns regarding the negative repercussions of social media, citing its potential to propagate false information, encourage self-obsession, serve as a conduit for spreading fake news, promote gossip and trolling, and foster addiction among users.
Participants including Mansha, Amandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, Sunaina, Pawan Kumar, Ramandeep Kaur, Sandeep Singh, and Tania contributed insightful perspectives, enriching the discourse with diverse viewpoints. Following a comprehensive deliberation, Tania, Mansha, and Sunaina were recognized as the winners of the Group Discussion, acknowledging their articulate arguments and critical thinking skills.
