 District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Kumar Saurabh Raj today stated that on the directions of Election of Commission of India (ECI), the polling stations in Barnala districts have been rationalized for forthcoming 2022 elections following the policy of limiting 1200 voters per polling station in wake of Covid 19 pandemic. Following this the polling stations of assembly constituencies 102 Bhadaur (SC), 103 Barnala and 104 Mehal Kalan (SC) were verified and rationalized. After getting due permission from the ECI, 64 new polling stations have been added to existing 494 and the number has increased to 558.

Giving constituency wise details he said that in 102 Bhadaur (SC) constituency there were 162 polling stations to which 7 have been added and now the total number is 169. Similarly, in 103 Barnala constituency there were 167 polling stations to which 45 new have been added and now the total number is 212. In 104 Mehal Kalan constituency, 165 polling stations were present to which 12 have been added and now 177 polling stations are there.

Besides this, as per the ECI guidelines, special electoral revision is being done on basis of January 1, 2022. This revision shall be done from Nov 1, 2021 to Nov 30, 2021. Claims and objections are invited rom all the three assembly constituencies regarding voter revision from public. These claims and objections can be uploaded online through ECI portal www.nvsp.in as well as Voter Helpline App. Besides this, the claims and objections can also be submitted to booth level officers (BLOs), office of concerned election registration officer or district election officer Barnala by hand or through post.

    If a person has attained 18 years of age on Jan 1, 2022 and has not yet enrolled him or herself as a voter, he or she should fill form 6 for new voter registration from Nov 1 to Nov 30. NRIs can get their votes made by filling form 6 O. To delete name from voter list one needs to fill form 7, to get changes done in existing list one needs to fill form 8 and to change one’s residence address in list one needs to fill form 8 O.
