OF THE 130 WOMEN IN FIRST BATCH, 61 HAVE FOUND JOBS AT TRIDENT ITSELF
WOMEN FROM HUMBLE BACKGROUNDS FIND WINGS WITH TRIDENT EMPOWERMENT

21 years old Sukhvir Kaur and 20 years old Lakhvir Kaur now have more reasons to smile than ever.Hailing from modest backgrounds of families from Chung and Handiaya in Barnala, these young girls are now working as sewing machine operator at the towel manufacturing unit of Trident group in Barnala.
The flag bearers of Punjab government’s Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission, these women are part of the first batch of 130 females that Trident Group has imparted training skills and 61 of them have already been recruited by the company itself.
Reacting to the call of Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh to industry for helping women become self sufficient, the Chairman of Trident Group Mr Rajinder Gupta took the onus of training 2500 women and making them industry ready.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that under its Ghar Ghar Rozgar mission, Punjab government has special collaboration with the Trident Group and plans to train 2500 women. Sara Sharma, the Head Learning and Development and Govt Initiatives, Trident Group said that these women have been roped in through the District Bureaus of Employment and Entreprises (DBEE) of Barnala, Mansa, Moga, Sangrur and Patiala as per the directives of Punjab SKill Development Mission. All the women are in the age group of 18 to 25 years, however, age relaxation is considered in case of needy women such as single mothers.
The first batch was started on Oct 17, 2020 that completed its training on Jan 14, 2021. The next batch of 180 women is ready to start its lessons followed by another batch of 200, which is being enrolled. After enrollment, the women candidates are subjected to general academic and medical tests. Having cleared that, they are inducted into the three months training. They are taught works of different streams as per their calibre and area of interest. During the first month, they have two hours of academics about the work profile they opt for apart from hands on training. Next two months, they are given 8 hours hands on training and their skills are honed. Each candidate is mentored not only in skills but also socially. The candidates undergo assessment every 15 days.
These women trainees are paid 18,000 per month during the training period spanning over 3 months. After successful completion of training, the interested trainees are inducted into the job in Trident Group itself. Those who opt to look for avenues outside are also trained enough to be able to work in the textile sector of Punjab as
per the skills imparted to them. Women Sukhvir Kaur and Lakhvir Kaur are among those first batch
candidates that have been inducted in the Trident Group itself. They have been given one of the most challenging profiles of sewing machine operator for which they would be getting Rs 25000 per month.
