2,625 tabs provided free for pre-primary and primary classes to impart digital education on entry level: education minister

School education minister Punjab Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Saturday, said that Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has continuously been introducing new learning techniques to improve the quality of education in government schools. Mr. Singla said that 6,832 schools converted into smart schools in the state and Punjab will soon become the first state to provide smart classrooms in all government schools. The cabinet minister was here at Government Senior Secondary Smart School (girls) Sangrur to participate in the first of its kind virtual programme in which CM Captain Amarinder Singh held an interactive session with the teachers of government schools apart from launching several schemes of education department.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that their government has spent around 700 crore Rupees to convert government schools into smart schools which included elementary, middle, high and senior secondary schools. He added that apart from conversion into smart schools, their government would soon start a campaign to convert smart schools in super smart schools. He said that this year, the government schools have witnessed more than 3.5 lakh new admissions which was the clear indicator of improvement in the standard of education in the state owned schools.
“I have personally talked to many students who have shifted to government schools from private schools. Most of them said that the facilities and learning techniques being adopted by the government school teachers are better than their private school teachers. They also said that the buildings and other infrastructure have also been drastically improved by the government,” Mr. Singla said.
The cabinet minister informed that to impart digital education in junior classes, as many as 2,625 tabs were also being provided to pre-primary and primary classes for free of cost and soon all schools in this category would be given smart tabs. He said that their government has already allocated Rs. 100 crore in the budget this year for the digitization of schools. He added that the education department has also taken new and innovative initiatives to impart interactive learning techniques. He said that these steps would enable the government school students to compete with the students studying in the private schools and students of other states as well in any field.
Mr. Singla said that as today CM Captain Amarinder Singh launched ‘Mission 100%’, the education department has geared the activities to achieve 100 percent pass percentage in upcoming examinations of all classes. He added that the teachers have been working hard and apart from virtual classes, the school staff has also made available at schools for classes from 9 to 12 to clear the doubts of students with the help of physical classes.
On this occasion, Secretary School Education Krishan Kumar, DC Ramvir, SDM Babandeep Singh Walia, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Karamjit Singh, DEO Malkit Singh Khosa, Chairman Anil Kumar Gheecha, Chairman Naresh Gaba, Chairperson Jasvir Kaur and several others were also present.
