1.5 LAKH SAPLINGS TO BE PLANTED IN DISTRICT 

DC CALLS UPON PEOPLE TO PLANT AS MANY SAPLINGS AS THEY CAN

                 On the directions from Minister of Forests Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and efforts of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Mr Kewal Singh Dhillon, special campaign is being run to make Barnala green with plantation of 1.5 lacs saplings. Starting the campaign today the Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka planted a sapling at Green Avenue today.

                   Speaking at the event Mr Phoolka said that entire Barnala district will be covered with 1.5 lac saplings plantation to provide better and greener future to the coming generations. He added that the plantations will be done along the roads in Barnala city, ITI Chowk, Handiaya Chowk and other places. ADC (D) Mr Aditya Dechalwal and assistant commissioner (G) Mr Ashok Kumar too planted saplings and called upon people of Barnala to contribute in this campaign.

                      IFS Divisional Forest Officer Sangrur Mrs Vidya Sagri Aryu said that the campaign was a part of the pro-environment initiatives that the forest department was taking. She added that caring for planted saplings for more important than planting them. People should care for the already planted saplings ensuring that the new plants grow to be fully mature trees. Forest Range Officer Mr Ajit Singh said that last year a large number of plantation was undertaken celebrating the 550 years birth anniversary Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the same is being continued. Shady trees including neem, mango, jamun, amaltas, gulmohar, chakresia, sheesham etc are being planted.

                  People from Green Avenue including Ashok Kumar, Raj Mahinder, SP Kaushal, District Congress Youth Congress president Pardeep Singh Sodhi, Deep Sanghera, Happy Dhillon, Hardeep Jagal, chairman Improvement Trust Makhan Sharma and others were also present.
