SSP Patiala Mr Mandeep Singh Sidhu informed that Patiala Police has solved a two year old theft case and arrested two persons in City Rajpura, one Licensed Revolver (stolen ) cal .32 with 4 rounds ammunition recovered.
SSP said that on June 3rd, 2020, during special nakabandi drive one person was signalled to stop for not adhering to the Govt directives on COVID-19 at ITI Chowk Rajpura. Upon being stopped he immediately changed track, however was apprehended within few meters. Upon checking, a .32 cal revolver, make Indian Ordinance was found from him.
On inquiring further he revealed that his name is Amit Kumar r/o Ambala Cantt & he had stolen this revolver 2 years back from SBS Colony Rajpura alongwith 30 gms gold & Rs 18,000 cash and that since then he was residing in Ambala. Before this he was into selling vegetables in Rajpura City along with another person named Sandeep Kumar. He had then sold the gold to a goldsmith Ramesh Kumar for Rs 12,000 and spent all money on himself, for day to day affairs.
Today he was going to meet Sandeep Kumar r/o Dalima Vihar Rajpura who is still a vegetable vendor and got caught while on his way there. Goldsmith named Ramesh Chand of Sandeep Jewellers has also been arrested.
Investigation is being done by SI Balwinder Singh SHO City Rajpura. Checking & nakabandi has been intensified, two days ago, Rajpura police had also caught 2 POs wanted under NDPS Act during similar nakabandi at Gagan Chowk Rajpura.
