HEALTH DEPARTMENT TAKES 32641 SAMPLES TILL DATE OF WHICH 29646 TESTED NEGATIVE WITH PENDING REPORT OF 893 SAMPLES

1552 PATIENTS OUT OF TOTAL 2102 POSITIVE REPORTED CASES RECOVERED IN THE DISTRICT

                  In order to combating COVID-19 far more efficaciously under ‘Mission Fateh’ of Punjab Government, the Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Gurpal Singh Chahal called upon people not to fall prey to rumours and cooperate with the authorities in the ongoing battle against the Corona Virus pandemic.

He said that it was observed that some people while misusing the social media were spreading rumours about testing procedure and covid-19 deaths in the general public, which triggered panic amongst the people especially in the rural folk. The deputy commissioner said that these rumours have provoked people to avoid testing which is further deteriorating the situation.

Deputy Commissioner also described some social media posts regarding organ trading and profiteering in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic as irrational and baseless. Debunking these rumours, Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to not get swayed by the rumours, which were far away from the truth.
He said the health department has not been keeping the Covid patients forcefully in the hospitals and those with mild symptoms are being sent to the home isolation under the guidance of the doctors.
He also warned the rumour mongers that any sort of attempt to mislead the people and create tension in the society would be dealt with a heavy hand.
Chahal categorically mentioned that such kind of instances would be dealt with iron hand as district administration was keeping close eyes over the rumour-mongers.
During his weekly Facebook interaction session, the Deputy Commissioner apprised that there were a total of 506 active cases of COVID with the addition of 60 new positive cases today.

He said that as many as 32641 samples had been collected in District till the date of which 29646 were tested negative with a total no of 2102 positive cases. He said that the report of 893 samples was still awaited while.

Elaborating about the hotspots, Chahal said that there were a total of 51 hotspots in the district where health and safety guidelines were being meticulously implemented to contain the further spread of the virus. He said that there were not any current containment and micro containment zone in the district adding as many as 1552 COVID cases out of total 2102 has been successfully recovered with a recovery rate of 73.8 percent. He also informed that there were total 44 deaths due to COVID in the district till date.

Pointing out further, Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has made elaborate arrangement to take care and extend the best possible treatment to the COVID patients as there were 228 beds exclusively set aside for COVID patients in Government hospitals besides 110 beds in the various private facilities. He called upon people to download Cova app to view the real-time status of the bed availability in the district besides being on alert against the Virus threat.
 
The deputy commissioner solicited people support against this ongoing battle by following safety precautions comprising washing hands, maintaining social distance, wearing masks and giving special care to the elderly and children as these was the only measure that can prevent the further spread of this deadly virus.
