Barnala residents get respite from the problem of sewerage, rain water

Sewerage treatment plant worth 20 MOD capacity to commission soon

Rs 92.49 cr project has been erected under AMRUT scheme

                 Gifting Rs 92.49 cr sewerage project to the people of Barnala city, the former MLA and vice president Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Mr Kewal Dhillon and Deputy Commissioner Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka today inaugurated the sewerage pumping station project on Bajakhana road. They inaugurated the project by switching on 6 new motor pumps that will bring much needed respite from problem of sewage and rain water. SSP Mr Sandeep Goyal was also present at the inaugural ceremony.
                      Mr Dhillon said that for the past 40 years only two motors were being used to pump out water during monsoon but now 6 new motor pumps have been added to the fleet to enable easy draining of water logged areas during monsoon. He added that this was a dream project for Barnala city. The sewgae project has been erected at a cost of Rs 92.49 cr under AMRUT scheme. While the main pumping station has been started, the sewage treatment plant will be made functional in next few days. He added that the capacity of sewage treatment plant was 20 Million Liters per day while that of main pumping station was 45 million liters per day.
                   He said that district Barnala has registered record development under stewardship of Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh. The work on laying interlocking tiles has completed upto 95 percent. In it the work of laying sewerage pipe has been completed from Nanaksar Gurudwara to ITI Chowk on just six months. Now fulfilling the most important demand of city residents sewerage from SD College to court road is being connected, whose tenders have been allotted but the work has been halted keeping in view the monsoon season. With the joining of this sewage coin efyjon areas of Lakhi Colony, Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dasmesh Nagar, Akalgarh Basti etc will get respite from water logging problems. Also work is being done on draining water from the IELTS center near bus stand, which would be completed within a month. 
                     Prominent among others present included ADC (G) Mr Aaditya Dachalwal, Barnala Improvement Trust chairman Mr Makhan Sharma, XEN srwerage board Mr Mahesh Chawla, SDO Mr Rajinder Garg, former XEN Mr Surinder Singh Bahia, EO Manpreet Singh Sidhu, JE Tarun Kumar Goyal were also present
