ONE MORE PATIENT GETS CURED TODAY; 97 POSITIVE ACTIVE PATIENTS LEFT IN DISTRICT NOW

Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has informed that the Punjab government had given relaxation to the industry for opening. He said that availing the benefits of this relaxation, around 2500 industries have started their operations in district Ludhiana, due to which more than 1 lakh people have started working. He assured that slowly things are improving and people are expected to return back to their jobs shortly.

He informed that one more positive patient has been declared cured by the health department officials. He informed that now, a total of 97 positive active patients (all residents of Ludhiana) are left and that their health is improving.

He informed that till date, the district administration has taken a total of 3253 samples, out of which 128 cases (110 from Ludhiana plus 18 from other districts) are positive. He informed that eight patients have been cured, and five deaths have been reported.

Mr Agrawal informed that the migrants, who have applied on the government portal, www.covidhelp.punjab.gov.in as they wanted to return back to their home states. He informed that till today afternoon, around 4.66 lakh people from district Ludhiana have applied to return to their home states. He informed that all states have appointed nodal officers for this purpose, who are in constant touch with each other.

He said that some states have showed their readiness to bring back its residents, and the Punjab government is working in this direction. He said that when the other states allow, Punjab government would start sending the migrants by either train or bus. He said that he also visited the Railway Station today to check what arrangements can be put in place if the Union government allows travel of migrants by trains.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that he, along with Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal visited the areas of the city, where majority of migrant population resides. He said that they even interacted with them and took their suggestions, which they would try to implement in the coming days.

He said that all the employees of the District Administration are working tirelessly for the safety of residents. He urged the residents to stay indoors and follow all directions of the Punjab government if they want to contribute in the fight against COVID 19.
