The alliance of leaders, builders and officers in Zirakpur was exposed today. Due to today’s rain, several feets of water got flooded in the residential societies situated in Zirakpur area. People who bought houses by investing their life’s capital here were forced to hide in their homes due to rain. The MLA and the head of the city council, who built residential societies in Zirakpur area, were nowhere to be seen today.
JAC Resident Welfare Association President Sukhdev Chaudhary and other JAC representatives, after taking stock of the damage caused by heavy rains, said that Zirakpur city council officials, along with leaders and builders, for a long time, were passing maps by spoiling the master plan. Today the result is that lakhs of people have been placed under house arrest. Naval Arora, Raman Khosla, Rakesh Kumar and Sarita Malik, residents of Dhakauli, told that the water has accumulated up to one to two feet in the societies here today.
He said that flood situation prevailed in the entire city today. JAC representatives told that the drains made to drain the water here have been filled by the builders who constructed over them. In Pirmuchalla, Kishanpura, Baltana, the city council teams have not cleaned the drains before the rains.
He said that today, when the lives of lakhs of people were in danger in Zirakpur, the MLAs who settled the colonies were nowhere to be seen. The same situation is with the head of the council. The council head is working here with the tainted officers of the council and he is not concerned with the problems of the people. Here the builders in collaboration with the city council have completely destroyed the master plan.
Area residents Vikramjeet and Kulwinder Saini said that property worth lakhs of rupees has been destroyed due to non-availability of rain water drainage in any colony, but today the local leaders, builders and officers did not take any note of them.
When the JAC team landed on the streets, the council sent JCB.
Sukhdev Chaudhary, president of JAC Resident Welfare Association, said that after the devastation caused by rain on Wednesday, when JAC representatives came on the streets in view of the problems of the people, the city council sent JCB machines here, but the council head did not come out of the office even on account of the anger of the people. The officers appeared only after the JAC representatives created awareness and protested.
