Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla reviews preparedness along with Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Sanjay Kumar and other officials

Punjab school education and PWD minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Monday, said that the memorial being constructed in the memory of Shaheed Udham Singh at Sunam would be dedicated to the people of Punjab by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on July 31. He was here at Sunam to review the arrangements and construction work of the memorial.
Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the Congress government led by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had started the work of memorial at a cost of Rs. 2 crore 62 lakh as per the demand of the people to perpetuate the martyrdom of Shaheed Udham Singh.
He said that the layout and design of Shaheed Memorial has been prepared by Chief Architect Punjab and it would have a statue of Shaheed Udham Singh ji, museum, open air theater, landscaping and other modern facilities. He said that he has been inspecting the site from time to time to maintain the quality of construction work of the monument.
Paying homage to Shaheed Udham Singh ji, Cabinet Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that we are guided by the sacrifices of these great warriors. He said that there was a need to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in the children and youth and to pay homage to the great martyrs.
Mr. Singla further said that Rs. 1 crore has been sanctioned by the Punjab Government for the construction of new statue and park of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at village Badrukha in Sangrur district and the work has also been started. He said that besides releasing the required funds for the upkeep of the heritage buildings, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh was also trying to restore the traditional look of the heritage cities.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Daman Thind Bajwa also thanked the Punjab Government for the construction of the memorial. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Sanjay Kumar, Director Archeology KP Brar, Deputy Commissioner Ramvir and MC president Nishan Singh Toni were also present
