Reacting sharply to the utterances of the Delhi Education Minister, Manish Sisodia, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the desperation of Manish Sisodia was quite visible and understandable as paid clamour about the rosy picture of Delhi Schools in media by the AAP government had comprehensible been exposed.
“While Punjab has got the top rank in the Performance Grading Index of schools among all the states and Union Territories, Delhi has not been placed in top five states/UTs. It has miserably been placed on sixth position”, said the Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla while condemning Sisodia’s desperate effort to politicise the issue with his illogical statement based on false accusations.
“Delhi Education Minister has blatantly been telling lies just to get political mileage keeping in view the coming elections in Punjab. But, for us “Reforms in Education” is a sacred issue and we never tried to use it as a tool for electoral battle as being done by AAP”, further said Singla while adding that Punjab achieved this rank on merits. He also invited him to Punjab to learn from the Congress government to learn how to improve level of education in government schools.
Mr. Singla said that the teachers and other staff of the education department has also worked hard to bring the state on the top position. He added that it also helped to increase around 15 percent enrolment in government schools as in the matter of results, the government schools have also outshined the private schools.
The cabinet minister added that Punjab has emerged as a leading state in rejuvenating school education by being a pioneer in bringing in infrastructural development , qualitative improvement and complying with RTE norms in government schools.
Lambasting Delhi Education Minister for his false statements regarding hobnobbing with the Modi government for achieving the PGI rank, closure of 800 schools, privatisation of education, Mr. Singla said the ranking was achieved as per the parameters laid down by the Union government and these were same for all the states and UTs. “The enrollment in Punjab schools has been increased considerably for the consequent two years. The trust being reposed by the people in government schools could easily be gauged from the fact that more than three lakh private school students have shifted to government schools to avail of the benefits of state of the art infrastructral as well”, said Mr. Singla.
