Barnala Red Cross Society sets up oxygen concentrator bank

The Red Cross Society Barnala, working under Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, has set up an oxygen concentrator bank for Covid-19 patients who have been discharged from hospitals.
Chairman Red Cross Society Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka said that the Red Cross will give oxygen concentrators at a rent of Rs 200 per day for 10 days to the patients. Once the patient recovers he or she will have to return the equipment. If a patient requires machine beyond the 10 days period, same can be done on recommendation of concerned doctor.
Mr Phoolka said that people were facing lot of problems in arranging oxygen cylinders for the covid patients. “Since the prices of oxygen concentrators is high, not everyone can afford to buy one. The basic motive is to ensure that no one needy is left bereft of oxygen,” he added.
To procure the machine, a refundable security of Rs 10,000 will have to be deposited with the District Red Cross Society.
He added that to get oxygen concentrator machine, family will have to give an undertaking about the need along with discharge slip of doctor for the same. also the doctor will give an undertaking that the patient’s attendant have been imparted technical know-how to operate this machine.
If there are any issues in operating the machine,it will be responsiblility of concerned hospital staff or para medical staff to maintain it.
