Sanitary Napkins To Be Distributed By Anganwadi Workers: Ramvir

To mark the World Menstrual Hygiene Day today, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh launched a state level scheme ‘Udaan’ under which free sanitary napkins were distributed to the women and girls of needy families. Attending the state level function virtually from District Administrative Complex Sangrur, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ramvir said that the district administration has been committed to extend the benefits of the public welfare schemes being run by the Punjab government to the needy and will also ensure that under the ‘Udaan’ scheme sanitary pads will be provided free of cost to every needy female.
Mr. Ramvir said that this project has been launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh who has been committed to the empowerment of women to give them a chance to live a dignified life. He said that under this scheme, the distribution of sanitary napkins to the women through Anganwadi workers would be ensured. He said that this would give women a chance to live their daily life with confidence and pride even during menstruation and they would also understand the importance of personal hygiene.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this state wide project was another commendable initiative of the Punjab Government which would go a long way in empowering women. He said that earlier the Punjab government had provided free travel facility to all women in buses and also ensured 33% reservation in government jobs for women.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh were also present on the occasion.
