   Punjab cabinet minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar unfurled the national flag here at police line stadium on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day. While congratulating Sangrur residents, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar said that the contribution of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar to frame the constitution of India is remarkable and it would be remembered till the mankind lasts. He added that it was a great challenge to draft a single constitution for such a huge nation which is constituted with several colours but Dr. Bhim Rao did it magnificently.

The cabinet minister said Punjab has always been frontrunner in every field of development and it has also contributed almost 60 percent of foodgrains in the national pool. He added that it was Punjabis who always fought selflessly in the freedom struggle and after independence; they also secured borders of India. He said that now the farmers have been regularly protesting against the black laws introduced by the Modi government. Mr. Kangar said that many farmers have lost their lives during this struggle and their government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced financial aid of Rs 5 lakh and government job to next of kin of each deceased farmer. He added that their government always stood by the farmers and ensured hassle free procurement of their produces. He said that their government has also provided employment opportunities to as many as 15 lakh youth of the state under ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ scheme.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar also informed that overall development of Sangrur district is also being ensured as Rs. 224 are being spent on 17 works of water supply and sewerage department. He added that as many as 50 model playgrounds are also being developed in the rural areas of the district with the estimated cost of around 7.62 crore.
Prior to his address, the cabinet minister also inspected the parade contingents which included a contingent by Punjab Police, Home Guards and band. On this occasion, DC Ramvir, Chairman Improvement Trust Naresh Gabha, Chairman Market Committee Anil Kumar Gheecha, Vice Chairman Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Mahesh Kumar Meshi, Chairman legal Cell Gurtej Singh Grewal, Senior Congress leader Master Ajaib Singh Ratolan, Director Infotech Satish Kansal, ADC Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, ADC Rajinder Singh Batra, Chairperson Zila Prishad Jasvir Kaur, Chairperson Punjab Agro Geeta Sharma among several other dignitaries were also present.
